Flexjet appointed Jason Weiss as its new vice president of operations. In his new role, he is responsible for managing the fractional operator’s flight operations, training, technical operations, operations analysis and fleet management, the owner operations center and procurement. Weiss–who replaces David Gross, who is retiring from Flexjet after 13 years–comes from NetJets, where he was the vice president of crew resource planning.
Leasing company Milestone Aviation continued its buying binge here at Heli-Expo yesterday, announcing firm orders for 30 new Sikorsky S-92A and S-76D helicopters and options for 24 more. Both Milestone and Sikorsky declined to place a total value on the order and options. Deliveries run from now through 2017.
Global helicopter lessor Milestone Aviation Group of Columbus, Ohio, and Eurocopter announced at Heli-Expo ‘13 this morning purchase orders with options for up to 15 EC225 Super Puma and five EC175 helicopters, contracts worth as much as $540 million (€415 million). The valuation is based on a price of €22.5 million each for the EC225 and €14 million each for the EC175s.
Ross Aviation, owner and operator of 14 FBOs nationwide, announced this week at the annual NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference in San Antonio that it has named Todd Baumgartner as senior vice president, effective February 1.

Saudi Arabia’s NasJet claims it is poised to grow revenues by 20 percent next year, after a healthy 6 percent gain during 2012. The increase, according to CEO Ghassan Hamdan, is due to growing aircraft management and operations support and more local charter agreements and charter business. In the first quarter of 2013, NasJet will open a new FBO at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh in conjunction with Switzerland’s ExecuJet.
Milestone Aviation Group, the helicopter leasing firm headed by NetJets founder Richard Santulli, is raising $250 million to purchase aircraft and refinance previously purchased aircraft. It is doing this by offering senior unsecured notes that are due in 2017. Milestone, which provides 100-percent operating lease financing for helicopters, has leased more than 60 aircraft worth more than $850 million since its launch in August 2010.
Airshow China last month provided yet more evidence of how eager the business aviation industry is to tap the enormous potential growth in China. Every major business aircraft maker made the trip to Zhuhai in the prosperous southern province of Guangdong, and their products formed one of the more prominent clusters among the 80 or so aircraft on display.
Bombardier Aerospace delivered NetJets’ first “signature series” Global 6000 at a special ceremony today in Montreal at Bombardier’s Global Completion Centre. “Today NetJets has unquestionably become part of the Bombardier Business Aircraft family,” said Bombardier Business Aircraft president Steve Ridolfi.
