Amelia Rose Earhart completed an around-the-world flight in a Pilatus PC-12 NG earlier this week, becoming the youngest female, at 31, to fly around the world in a single-engine aircraft. Landing at Oakland (Calif). International Airport, Amelia Rose Earhart returned to her flight origin and “closed the flight plan” of the original Amelia Mary Earhart.

Recovering jobs market boosts attendance at networking event

This year aviation companies, even airlines, are resuming hiring, and that alone may explain the new attendance record set by the annual Women in Aviation International Conference, held in Dallas from March 8 to 10. It might be difficult to believe that in 2012 women still need to band together to help each other find jobs in the aviation and aerospace industries.

Women in Corporate Aviation will be presenting a $2,000 career scholarship today to student pilot Stacy Booker at a ceremony hosted by WCA and Southeast Regional Schedulers and Dispatchers.

Ilovene Potter, a long-time member of the Whirly-Girls and Ninety-Nines, died February 14 in Puyallup, Wash. She was 87. Potter earned her private-pilot license in 1941 and was the first woman in Washington state to receive a helicopter rating.
