Ruag Aviation’s Munich-Oberpfaffenhofen paint shop received a second-place besser lackieren (better paint) Green Award in the category of in-house coating: companies with fewer than 50 employees. The award emphasizes the development of coating technologies and know-how through learning from industry leaders. It further aims to highlight the importance of properly performed coating, from extending product and platform service life to enhancing appearances.
Completions and refurbishment provider 328 Support has delivered three aircraft to Nigeria this spring. The company provided SkyBird Air with a total of three Dornier 328DBJs, the last one being delivered in April.
The 328DBJ has long-range tanks for a range, with four passengers, of just under 2,000 nm. The cabin, done by Robin Dunlop of CTM design, is in neutral tones complemented by red seat belts, which is consistent with the SkyBird Air brand. Decorative veneers,a full HD entertainment system, and a satcom Wi-Fi system complete the retrofit.
The all-composite Dornier Seastar completed a demo tour of the U.S. and Canada in mid-May, then flew to Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, for a C-check. The tour will resume after the maintenance is done and will cover Europe, India and Asia. Dornier Seastar said it will announce the upcoming destinations this month. The 12-seat twin-turbine amphibian is already FAA and EASA certified. In the third quarter of this year, Dornier Seastar expects to announce selection of a production site, and under review are locations in Canada, China and India.
Business aircraft traffic at the recently rebranded Munich Executive Airport has been growing. According to Rheinland Air Service (RAS), which operates an FBO at the former Oberpfaffenhofen airfield, average monthly traffic levels have grown from 28 to 54 aircraft over the past 12 months.
Rockwell Collins announced in May the successful aftermarket installation of its Venue CMS on two Dornier 328DBJ executive jets that will fly for charter operator Skybird.
The installation, by independent completion and refurbishment specialist 328 Support Services of Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, makes the 328DBJ (Dornier Business Jet) the first European-manufactured aircraft to fly with Venue, according to Rockwell Collins.

Switzerland’s Ruag Aerospace plans to deliver its first new-build 19-seat Dornier Do-228 New Generation to an as yet unidentified Japanese commuter airline at the end of September, Ruag Aerospace Services sales director Hubert Seher told AIN at the Regional Airline Association Convention in Milwaukee in late May.
Last November, Ruag Aerospace rolled out the new version of the Dornier Do-228 twin turboprop, the 228NG, and began the flight-test program for the resurrected airplane. Ruag’s board of directors decided to bring the 228 back into production in October 2007. The first 228NG took to the skies over Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, on November 12.
Munich, Germany-based 328 Support Services has received FAA repair station status for its Dornier 328 executive conversion work. The company is the type certificate holder for the Dornier 328 and is a registered production, customer support, engineering and third-party maintenance organization with headquarters at Oberpfaffenhofen Airfield.
