BBA Aviation has signed a seven-year lease extension and expansion of its downtown Orlando corporate headquarters offices to accommodate anticipated growth. Signature Flight Support and Aircraft Service Group International, together with parent company BBA Aviation, collectively have more than 1,000 employees in 12 Florida cities, with almost 200 of them based in downtown Orlando. The expansion will support the future anticipated growth of the business and the creation of new, high-wage jobs over the course of the next three years.

With Orlando rapidly becoming the NBAA Annual Meeting and Convention’s unofficial home, the area is banking on the event–currently ranked as the nation’s fifth largest tradeshow–to provide a boost to the local economy.

Tradeshow Week announced that the NBAA Convention rose to the fifth position in its rankings of largest trade shows in the U.S. last year. In 2007 the NBAA event was listed as the 10th largest show and in 2006 it was ranked at number 37. This year’s NBAA Convention will be held from October 20 to 22 in Orlando, Fla., the same location as last year.

Continuing what is expected to become an annual tradition, NBAA once again partnered with the nonprofit organization KaBOOM to build an aviation-theme playground for local kids. On Saturday, more than 250 NBAA members and community residents volunteered their services to construct the playground at the Hollowbrook Apartments near Orlando Executive Airport, the site of this year’s NBAA static display.

Galaxy Aviation is offering Visa gift cards to pilots who visit the company’s new FBO terminal and hangar facility during this year’s NBAA Convention (October 6 to 8) in Orlando, Fla.
