Facing 100 percent hangar occupancy at Atlanta’s Cobb County Airport/McCollum Field, the Atlanta Executive Jet Center (AEJC) has completed its Corporate Row Hangar Project, a $7 million development. Occupying a six-acre plot leased by the AEJC in 2010, it consists of 100,000 sq ft of corporate hangar space along with 240,000 sq ft of new ramp at the airport, which averages 183 movements a day. The new complex is expected to generate $9 million a year for the local community.

With the addition of Airside FBO Operations at Edmonton, Signature now has two facilities in Canada.

BBA Aviation subsidiary Signature Flight Support has added a facility at Edmonton International Airport to its global aviation support network. Airside FBO Operations signed an agreement to become a licensed Signature location, the second in Canada, joining the company’s facility at Pierre Trudeau Montreal International. The newly built facility has four 20,000-sq-ft hangars, a 9,000-sq-ft terminal and office space.

The main static display at Orlando’s Showalter Flying Service will benefit  from an additional 2.25 acres for aircraft.

The second outdoor static display that was “just a few steps away from the convention center” at last year’s NBAA Convention in Las Vegas was so widely praised by both exhibitors and attendees that NBAA is doing it again at this year’s show, which will be held late next month in Orlando, Fla. In addition, the main static display (hosted by Showalter Flying Service at Orlando Executive Airport) will have more square footage than it did when the convention was last held in Orlando two years ago.

The main static display for this year’s NBAA Convention in Orlando, Fla., will have more square footage than when the convention was last held there two years ago. Showalter Flying Service at Orlando Executive Airport will be the host FBO of the main static display at NBAA 2012.

The Florida Department of Transportation is rebuilding and expanding Orlando Executive’s north ramp, which is used by Showalter Flying Service, to an open area of about 25 acres. The $1.1 million project will finally repair damage sustained eight years ago during Hurricane Charley.

Second Static Display Returns to NBAA Convention

The second outdoor static display that was “just a few steps away from the convention center” at last year’s NBAA Convention in Las Vegas was so widely praised by both exhibitors and attendees that the association is doing it again this year. NBAA 2012 will be held from October 30 to November 1 in Orlando, Fla.

The world’s busiest airport in terms of overall passenger traffic has added a new international terminal. The Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport opened May 16 after more than a decade of planning and nearly four years of construction.

At a ceremony late last month, Narita International Airport opened the first dedicated terminal for business and private jets. Operated by the airport authority, Premier Gate–which will be open from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m.–promises privacy for passengers along with swift inbound and outbound passport control procedures through the use of dedicated onsite customs, immigration and quarantine facilities. In conjunction with the opening of the new terminal, the airport said it will extend the permissible duration for corporate jet parking to 30 days from 14.

Construction began at the end of January on a runway expansion project at Florida’s Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport with a price tag of nearly $800 million. The work will shift and lengthen Runway 9R/27L from its current 5,276 feet to 8,000 feet, giving the rapidly growing airport two parallel runways that can accommodate airline flights. The expansion is expected to increase the airport’s capacity from 84 flights per hour to more than 100.
