The FAA has issued an Unapproved Parts Notification for MacLean Sky aircraft bolts used in certain Dynafocal mounting assembly low-profile kits that were manufactured without the benefit of an FAA production approval. According to the FAA, from 2009 to 2012 MacLean Sky, formerly Sky-Manufacturing of Commerce, Calif., was manufacturing parts for an FAA production approval holder (PAH) and selling the excess parts to Fasteners Dimensions of Ozone Park, N.Y.
The FAA has awarded supplemental type certificate approval to Innotech-Execaire Aviation Group to install its I-Cair cabin-air quality system on the Bombardier Global series. The I-Cair system was jointly developed by Dorval, Canada-based Innotech Aviation and Montreal-based Air Data, using its JetAir bio-protection system, with installations being done at Innotech’s completion center in Montreal.
Under a partnership agreement signed with Air Data, Innotech Aviation’s Montreal completion center will install Air Data JetAir bio-protection systems (BPS) on Bombardier Global Expresses. The JetAir BPS uses “cold plasma ionic interaction” technology, which catches and inactivates air contaminants and reduces “harmful and annoying gases against which traditional filters have no effect,” according to Innotech.
Oxford Aviation of Oxford, Maine, introduced a three-in-one boot treatment called Tri-Guard. It is a silicone-free treatment that rejuvenates and conditions de-icing boots with a high gloss finish, offers protection from ozone degradation and UV rays, enhances the flexibility and durability of the boot and helps the actual ice-shedding process.
German aerospace research agency DLR has enlisted the services of two business jets for some extensive environmental research intended to measure ozone depletion in the atmosphere. On November 4, a Falcon 20E and a Learjet 35A took off from DLR’s Oberpfaffenhofen base near Munich, along with a Russian Geophysika M-55 high-altitude surveillance aircraft.
