Van Nuys, Calif.-based Elite Aviation has partnered with Piaggio Aero to expand Piaggio Avanti II sales on the U.S. West Coast. Under the agreement Elite will handle Avanti II sales in California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada. “The move into sales is a logical extension for Elite Aviation,” the company said.
Piaggio P.180 Avanti
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has certified Piaggio Aero’s P.180 Avanti and Avanti II, the Italy-based airframer announced at NBAA 2011 in Las Vegas. The type certification confirms that the aircraft comply with Chinese regulations and can now be registered and operated in the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong.
Piaggio Aero general manager Eligio Trombetta announced that the company is currently working several new product upgrade programs for its P.180 Avanti II twin turboprop pusher, including new and quieter propellers, an improved environmental control system (ECS), a digital cabin management system (CMS) and anti-skid brakes.
Skyservice Business Aviation, headquartered in Montréal, celebrated the chain’s 25th anniversary in August. Starting in 1986 with an FBO at Montréal-Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport, the company has since added locations in Toronto and Calgary, all offering up to heavy maintenance capabilities for a variety of business jets and turboprops.
United Technologies, the parent company of engine maker Pratt & Whitney Canada and helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky, reached an agreement yesterday to purchase Goodrich for $18.4 billion. The announcement followed speculation over the prior week that United Technologies was looking to acquire Goodrich, Rockwell Collins or Cessna Aircraft parent company Textron.
Piaggio Aero has appointed Waterford, Mich.-based Pentastar Aviation a non-exclusive authorized service center. The agreement allows the MRO to provide maintenance services and support for the Piaggio Avanti II. The company, which also has a Van Nuys, Calif. operation, will act as a Piaggio Aero sales center in the upper Midwest.
Jet Works Air Center is the product of the merger of Jet Works Aviation and Denton Business Air Center, combining the former’s avionics repair capabilities with the latter’s aircraft paint, interior refurbishment and completions center abilities. The FAR Part 145 repair station offers airframe maintenance, engine line maintenance, avionics service and installation, exterior paint and interior refurbishment.
Piaggio Aero (Static Display T19) last week broke ground for a new factory, which will produce subassemblies and parts for the A180 Avanti II twin turboprop. The new facility, which will be located at Villanova d’Albenga, Italy, is scheduled to be operational by 2013.
