After two years, Chicago-area DuPage Airport has finished a $4.2 million upgrade of its FBO, which is open 24/7. Among the improvements to the facility–the lone provider at the airport–are new passenger entrances leading to an updated lobby with newly renovated restrooms, crew lounges and upgraded U.S. Customs facilities. Additions include a crew kitchen and dining lounge, theater room, fitness center with cardio workout equipment and weights, and a quiet room with sleeping accommodations.

Adding to its locations in New York (Long Island MacArthur Airport) and New Orleans (Lakefront Airport), Hawthorne Global Aviation Services will officially open its first newly built FBO this month, at Chicago Executive Airport. Construction began a year ago on the Shell-branded facility, which will compete with Signature and Atlantic. The airport is home to 100 private jets and turboprops, and sees 90,000 operations a year.
Passenger satisfaction with U.S. airlines remains low, according to an annual benchmarking survey, which identified uncomfortable seats and poor inflight service as major contributing factors.

Just ask the JetBlue Airways crew who brought a company Airbus A-321 into Sun ’n’ Fun on April 2, as part of an airlift of teenagers and twenty-somethings, all students or up-and-coming pilots, dispatchers and mechanics (and more) participating in JetBlue’s high school outreach, Gateway and College Crew programs around the country.
Last month Million Air occupied its new headquarters facility at Houston Hobby Airport. Under construction for approximately a year, the 27,000-sq-foot FBO offers the latest amenities, including the “Million Air Sky Lounge,” an upstairs 800-sq-ft event room with a folding glass curtain wall that opens onto a 753-sq-foot balcony overlooking the airport and ramp. The room features a kitchen area with ice machine, refrigerators and bar area for special events. Six tenant offices have glass doors that open to the lounge, while another four offices are located downstairs.
Volo Aviation has been awarded the contract to manage the FBO at MidCoast Regional Airport at Wright Army Airfield, a joint public- and military-use airport located within Fort Stewart, 35 miles from Savannah. In 2007, several local agencies partnered to build a 13,825-sq-ft terminal to house both the military and civilian operations at the airport.
With the Super Bowl just five days away, there is still parking space at the major business aviation airports in the New York City area. The five FBOs at Teterboro Airport, less than five miles from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., have received more than 800 reservations from tomorrow through next Tuesday morning, including passenger drop-offs.

Landmark Aviation announced yesterday that it has doubled down on its property holdings at Westchester County Airport in White Plains, N.Y., with the acquisition of independent FBO Panorama Flight Support. With its latest addition, Landmark acquired a 20,000-sq-ft hangar, for a total of approximately 96,000 sq ft of heated community hangar space on nearly 26 acres of property.
At its press conference here at NBAA 2013 yesterday, Million Air announced the newest additions to its network and its first base in Florida, following the recent purchase of Avion Jet Center at Orlando Sanford International Airport. The Houston-based company is set to embark on a $3.5 million renovation of the facility, with work starting on the 10,000-sq-ft hangar at the beginning of the year. The location also features a 7,000-sq-ft terminal, which will soon include all the usual Million Air amenities including a theater room and the popular soda bar.
