Quest Aircraft (Booth No. 4566) has received type certification from Canada and Papua New Guinea (PNG) and type acceptance certification from Indonesia for its Kodiak single-engine turboprop. “Canada is a prime market for us, as the Kodiak is the perfect platform for a variety of mission profiles flown in remote areas,” said Paul Schaller, Quest Aircraft’s president and CEO.
Metro Aviation has earned FAA Part 145 repair station status to perform maintenance and repair on Bell 407s. With this latest certification, the Shreveport, La.-based company continues to diversify the helicopters approved under a long-standing repair station authorization. Metro has finished several new Bell 407s both for air medical and corporate customers and the company has contracts for completions of the aircraft through next year.
The FAA issued a final rule revising the training, qualification, certification and operating requirements for pilots, flight instructors, ground instructors and pilot schools to clarify, update and correct existing regulations. The changes were made to incorporate international flight standards and respond to recent technological advances.

Assembly has begun at GE’s manufacturing facility in Lynn, Mass., on the first production GE Honda HF120 engine that will be used for FAA certification tests. “With the experience we’ve gained through our demonstrator engine testing program, we are confident the HF120 engine configuration is mature and are anticipating a smooth FAA certification testing program,” said GE Honda Aero Engines president Bill Dwyer.

The World Customs Organization has given Lufthansa Technik authorized economic operator (AEO) status based upon the company’s established customs procedures and security regulations.
StandardAero has received Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) at its Springfield, Ill. location. The designation allows the company to approve design data, tests and analysis as well as make a finding of compliance to the regulations allowing them to sign an STC on behalf of the FAA for aircraft alterations.
FAA and Transport Canada certification of Bell’s new 429 light twin could come as early as this month.
Bell expects EASA certification shortly thereafter and Japanese certification by year-end. The order book for the $4.865 million (2007) helicopter remains at approximately 300 aircraft, and deliveries will begin around the third quarter of this year. Sixty percent of orders are from customers outside North America.
