NBAA announced yesterday that Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue will be featured as a keynote speaker for the opening general session on October 19 at the NBAA Convention in Atlanta. Further, Perdue will be recognized with the association's 2010 American Spirit Award.

More than 800 people participated in the NBAA regional forum held at DB Aviation at Waukegan Airport north of Chicago yesterday. On hand were 23 business jets, including a new Embraer Lineage 1000, and 64 exhibitors offering flight department software to aircraft management services and maintenance. Presentations covered managing insurance and adding airborne communications and connectivity to the aircraft cabin.

NBAA and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) last week at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis., announced that two Light Business Aviation (LBA) Conferences will be held this year–one at each group’s annual convention. The two groups had planned similar LBA conferences in 2008, but those plans were scuttled when the economy deteriorated later in the year.

The annual NBAA corporate flight attendants conference has grown steadily, and on June 24 through 26 celebrated its 15th year and a new name and focus as the NBAA flight attendants/flight technicians conference.

Surrounded by historic aircraft tracing the history of manned flight, NBAA received the prestigious National Aviation Hall of Fame 2010 Milton Caniff “Spirit of Flight Award” on July 16 in Dayton, Ohio, honoring the association for its significant contribution to America’s aviation heritage.

Attendance at EBACE 2010 reached 11,106 registered visitors by the time the halls closed yesterday. With new visitors expected today, this is set to be the show’s second-most-attended year if it passes the 11,267 total achieved in 2007. Last year’s event had the highest attendance to date, with 13,692 showgoers. Aircraft manufacturers have been logging business aircraft sales during the show, though not at the pace of two years ago.

Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI) opened its new European headquarters at the London-area Farnborough Airport last month. The operation will be led by JSSI president and CEO Louis Seno, who has relocated to the UK from the group’s Chicago headquarters.

The Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) is reporting strong turnout on the opening day of its annual convention at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla. About 1,500 people have registered for the show, which features 135 exhibitors and dozens of new product introductions.
