Applied Composites Engineering (ACE) is offering a two-year transferable warranty on all overhauled or repaired radomes for airliners and business jets. The two-year Platinum warranty will be included as part of a fully overhauled radome repair. The two-year Gold warranty will be included as part of a damage-specific radome repair. Both levels will transfer to the new owner in the event of an aircraft sale during the warranty period, and both include one transmissivity test during the warranty period at no cost.

Londonderry, N.H.-based Pro Star Aviation has been awarded an FAA STC for the installation of a universal antenna mount (UAM) and lower-fuselage radome on the Beechcraft King Air B300 and B300C. The STC allows five operational configurations of mechanical provisions, UAMs, UAM fairings and lower-fuselage radomes. It also allows mounting up to 50 pounds of equipment to the UAM itself. The STC also provides for the optional use of lightning diverter strips on the lower-fuselage radome.

Embraer cut the first metal for the Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 on April 20 at its São Jose dos Campos, Brazil headquarters. The first component to be manufactured for the fly-by-wire pair of business jets is part of the forward fuselage, to which the radome, radar and glideslope antenna are attached. The Legacy 500 is scheduled for certification in 2012 and the Legacy 450 in 2013.

With J-10A production in full stride, Chengdu is working on integrating new technology, which may lead to an improved production aircraft. A prototype has been seen and photographed with several important new features. Most obvious are new radome and intake structures.

EMS’ ADT-1000 (aeronautical data terminal) is a dual-channel high-speed data unit capable of up to 128 kbps bidirectional throughput over the Swift64 network.

Flight Display Systems of Alpharetta, Ga., last month won a long-anticipated FAA STC for Ellipse TV, a product that takes a commercial-off-the-shelf satellite television antenna normally found atop SUVs, mobile homes and yachts and makes it available for installation on business jets.

Arinc’s new slimmer Ku-band antenna for its Skylink satellite in-flight broadband service is now available. The antenna, originally created for Gulfstream, now comes in a size that fits a wider range of tail-mounted radomes on other aircraft, including Falcons, Globals and Challengers. The structure of the antenna is the only change from the original Skylink package.
