Being certified by an accredited AS9100 and ISO 9001 registrar provides organizations with a comprehensive quality management system focused on areas directly affecting product airworthiness, safety and reliability. The company plans to use the new certification as a spring board to growth opportunities in the aerospace NVIS and non-NVIS lighting arena.
Boeing sees the reliability of the 787 Dreamliner improving to originally targeted rates within six months, company vice president of sales for the Middle East Marty Bentrott told a gathering of reporters yesterday during a pre-show briefing here in Dubai. Responding to Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker’s recent comments about his dissatisfaction with the reliability of the Boeing 787, Bentrott noted that the issues didn’t affect only Qatar, but that Boeing remains committed to resolving them as soon as possible.

Duncan Aviation has selected Houston-based AV8 MRO as its preferred provider for the repair and overhaul of all Hawker landing gear.
“This agreement allows Duncan Aviation to take advantage of our complete in-house repair and overhaul capabilities, while also giving them the opportunity to offer an overhaul exchange program to their customers,” said Yoel Arnoni, one of the MRO’s principals.
Less-than-satisfactory dispatch reliability of the Boeing 787 hasn’t discouraged the company’s ambitions to ensure enough airplanes roll out of the two Dreamliner factories to meet delivery commitments. Now building 787s at a rate of seven per month, the company announced plans last week to raise rates from the 10 per month targeted for the end of this year to 12 per month by 2016 and 14 a month before the end of the decade.

Greenwich AeroGroup announced today that Atlantic Aero in Greensboro, N.C., and Western Aircraft in Boise, Idaho, have received AS9110 quality system certifications. Now all three Greenwich AeroGroup maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service centers are AS certified. The internationally recognized AS9110 standard focuses on MRO services and is an offshoot of the AS9100 standard that addresses the aviation industry. “We are extremely pleased with these achievements,” said Greenwich AeroGroup senior v-p Jeff Mihalic.
Today at EBACE, Nextant announced the sale of a second 400XT to Prague-based business jet operator Time Air, which was the first European customer for the remanufactured Beechjet 400A. Time Air managing director Martin Prazsky praised its 400XT, which has flown 600 hours in the first nine months, for having low operating cost and high dispatch reliability. In taking a second aircraft Time Air also becomes the first European fleet operator of the Nextant.
