Webster Bank’s Center Capital of Waterbury, Conn., has formed a general aviation finance division headquartered in Dallas. The new division’s target market initially is new and pre-owned helicopters and airplanes, as well as maintenance projects, valued at under $2 million. Charles McGuire, v-p and general manager of the division, told AIN that there are no restrictions with reference to aircraft age or noise stage.
When officials at Los Angeles World Airports awarded a contract for a leasehold at Van Nuys Airport (VNY), some of the seven losing bidders cried foul. The winner, Castle & Cooke, is backed by billionaire David Murdock, and the protesters claim it was his support of Los Angeles mayor James Hahn that secured the deal.
Finding a rental car at an FBO will be much easier soon as Enterprise Rent-A-Car signed an agreement to serve customers at Landmark Aviation’s 34 North American FBOs. The cars will be available either on-site or from local Enterprise locations, and Landmark customers will receive a discount on the Enterprise rentals.
Last month, fractional provider Bombardier Flexjet announced a program for substituting a finance lease for the acquisition payment of a fractional share. Under the “Jet Rich Quick” program, customers pay no money down and a fixed monthly payment for the lease, which could involve a term of two or four years. They also pay the regular monthly management fee and the hourly occupied fee for time flown.
