Known primarily for its pilot-centric product sales business, AviatMall has opened its first FBO at Wilmington International Airport in North Carolina, where it will be one of two service providers on the field. The company was awarded a five-year lease through an RFP process to occupy the 13-acre former Aero Services facility, which includes a 3,000-sq-ft terminal and 21,000 sq ft of hangar space that can accommodate aircraft up to a Challenger 605.

India will likely extend the submission deadline of a request for proposals (RFP) to replace the Indian Air Force’s aging Avro/Hawker Siddeley HS.748M turboprops by another month, a defense ministry official told AIN. The deadline is currently October 8; however, manufacturers face a challenge in identifying private partners in India that have adequate facilities for final assembly and component and sub-system manufacture of the replacement aircraft.
India’s Ministry of Defense has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for the procurement of 56 transport aircraft to replace the air force’s aging fleet of around 30 Avro 748Ms. In a bid to launch an indigenous private defense manufacturing capability, this is the first time an RFP states that the Indian Production Agency (IPA) will be a private company. This leaves out Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL), which has until now held a monopoly in defense programs. The last date for submission of bids is October 8.
The Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is in the process of accepting proposals from companies interested in operating the Executive Jet Centre, the FBO at Piarco International Airport on the island of Trinidad. The three-year-old facility, housed in the airport’s South terminal, features 8,400 sq ft of space, customs and immigration facilities, two VIP lounges with individual food preparation areas, two crew lounges, a conference room and staff rooms, and more than 700,000 sq ft of available ramp parking.
Potential bidders for a 75-aircraft Indian air force basic trainer requirement met this week for a pre-bid conference. India has issued a dozen manufacturers a request for proposals, with responses due by March 17.
