Jetcraft, which provides sales, acquisitions, trading and brokerage services of business aircraft, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The company got its start in 1961 when Charles “Bucky” Oliver acquired an FBO, Raleigh-Durham Aviation.
Tac Air held an open house at its Raleigh-Durham International Airport FBO on April 7 to showcase its new interior design standards, which will be rolled out to other facilities in the 12-FBO chain. The design includes a new floorplan, customer workstations with wireless printing from laptops and smartphones, renovated restrooms, an expanded pilot lounge and wall and floor coverings that meet the FBO’s new decorating standards.

A spokesman for the North Carolina Department of Labor said the agency would need until at least the middle of next month to finish its investigation into the July 31 death of an American Eagle fleet service clerk at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). The accident, which occurred on the RDU ramp between 8:30 and 9 p.m., involved a parked Embraer regional jet and a baggage tug driven by the deceased, 43-year-old Lufuluabo Kalonji.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), N.C., held a dedication ceremony on December 17 (the anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ first flight) for its new $4 million general aviation terminal, which includes a restaurant and information center. Though not yet open, the municipally owned terminal is now complete and includes conference rooms, flight-planning facilities and snooze areas.
Even as officials of the North Carolina Department of Transportation celebrated the centennial of manned flight at ceremonies on the Outer Banks on December 17, a state audit issued three weeks earlier was recommending some extensive cost-cutting measures with regard to the state’s aircraft operations.
Landmark Aviation added a new $2 million hangar and office complex at its Raleigh-Durham International Airport FBO. With 13,500 sq ft of hangar space and 4,800 sq ft of office space, the expansion makes more room for based tenants at Landmark Raleigh. In addition to 24-hour FBO services, the Raleigh facility hosts Landmark charter and aircraft sales operations.
