Amid scuttlebutt about persistent financial problems, Eclipse Aviation founder and CEO Vern Raburn (left, in photo) stepped down today and company chairman Roel Pieper (right), a Dutch IT entrepreneur, became acting CEO, effective this morning. He had been serving as the non-executive chairman of Eclipse since early this year, when Etirc's investment of $100 million gave it a minority stake in the company.

Eclipse Aviation received permission from the U.S. and Canada to export the Eclipse 500 and its Pratt & Whitney Canada PW610F engines to Russia. “This is the next step in establishing an assembly facility in Ulyanovsk, Russia,” the company said at EBACE.

Eclipse Aviation (Booth No. 7463) has received permission from the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) to export the Eclipse 500 very light jet and its components to Russia, and has also received Canadian approval for the export of the aircraft’s Pratt & Whitney Canada PW610F engines.

Eclipse Aviation president and CEO Vern Raburn announced yesterday that Etirc Aviation is deepening its partnership with Eclipse with an equity investment of more than $100 million, an agreement to add countries to Etirc’s Eclipse 500 sales and support network and the right to manufacture the very light jet within its expanded network area. According to Raburn, the new funds will help the company continue its growth in New Mexico.

Eclipse Aviation’s announcement of a 180-airplane order yesterday signaled the launch of a very light jet (VLJ) air-taxi operation that will be based in Turkey. The Eclipse 500 order–including 120 firm sales and 60 options–was placed by Eclipse Eastern European distributor Etirc Aviation and is Eclipse’s largest European order to date. The Eclipse order book now stands at just under 2,700 airplanes.
