Norm Hill, who oversees sales and marketing for the company, said its primary business is making economical, serviceable GII, GIII and GIV parts available to operators worldwide.

Hush kits developed by Stage III Technologies for Rolls-Royce Spey-powered Gulfstreams are back with a new name and a new company. Yesterday at Van Nuys Airport in California, Hush Kit LLC, an affiliate of Hubbard Broadcasting of Minneapolis, flew the first production Stage III hush kit installed on a Gulfstream II (N20H), also owned by Hubbard, in preparation for the product’s debut at the NBAA Convention in Orlando, Fla., early next month.

The idea of opening a new Gulfstream repair station in southern Florida was evolutionary for Vincent Wolanin. Its roots go back to Wolanin’s days as chairman of TopNotch Entertainment, a rock-and-roll management company that worked with groups such as Aerosmith, Kiss, John Mellencamp and many others.

Seventeen Gulfstreams with recently overhauled Rolls-Royce Spey or Tay engines were grounded last month when a problem was discovered with the engines’ air control actuator (ACA), a key fuel control component. All the engines were being, or had recently been, overhauled by either Rolls-Royce or BizJet International. According to Gulfstream, three of the aircraft were already in scheduled maintenance at the time.

According to Gulfstream director of customer support Mitch Choquette, three of the aircraft were already in scheduled maintenance at the time.

Making jet aircraft acceptably quiet can be a dirty job. Owners don’t want to spend the money, engine makers don’t want to compromise their products’ efficiencies and airport neighbors are rarely happy with the results.

Dallas Airmotive also recently announced that it has opened a regional turbine center in Millville, N.J. The 8,000-sq-ft facility supports turbine aircraft operators in the Northeastern U.S. and is located at Millville Municipal Airport adjacent to the company’s maintenance hangar. Last year Dallas Airmotive closed Millville engine overhaul operations.
