After being out of commission for nearly three months, the control tower at Puerto Rico Isla Grande Airport (SIG) finally went back online last week in response to increased customer demand at the airport. The tower, which was shut down on August 8, resumed operations after temporary repairs were completed. It is operational from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

FBO chain SheltAir last month finished building its executive terminal at Isla Grande Executive Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The FBO, which opened for business in San Juan last summer, said the new terminal features “state-of-the-art amenities.” In addition to San Juan, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based SheltAir also operates facilities at six airports in Florida, as well as the sole general aviation facility at New York La Guardia Airport.
The latest addition to the SheltAir FBO chain is up and running at San Juan (Puerto Rico) Isla Grande Executive Airport (TJIG). Headed by general manager Jamai Hensel, the staff of SheltAir San Juan provides 24-hour service just minutes’ drive from the city’s hotels, casinos, cruise ports, arenas and beaches. Among the attractions are the city’s opera house, the fine-arts district, a brand-new convention center and Old San Juan section.
