Gulfstream yesterday announced its appointment of Scott Neal as vice president of sales and marketing. He succeeds Larry Flynn, who became president of the Savannah, Ga. manufacturer on September 1.

Gulfstream Aerospace is preparing an assembly plant for its new G650, and the U.S manufacturer is also readying an adjacent building for cabin completion work. The completion facility is in a former service center currently being used for flight-test operations. Gulfstream expects all G650 assembly and outfitting to be done at its headquarters in Savannah, Georgia.
Midcoast Aviation of East Cahokia, Ill., announced last week it will absorb the operations of sister company Savannah Air Center of Savannah, Ga., and expects the transition to be complete by year-end. Both Midcoast and Savannah Air Center provide aircraft interior completion and refurbishment and maintenance and overhaul.
Savannah Air Center (Booth No. 3997) has renovated a 2,400-sq-ft delivery center for newly completed aircraft. The new two-story facility offers clients controlled ramp access during the delivery phase of their aircraft. Quality assurance and certification personnel are located nearby to expedite the turnover of paperwork and required documents.
According to Jeff Zacharius, president of Savannah Air Center, the new 101,000-sq-ft completion hangar that opened in February is already at near capacity with a mix of 10 aircraft–Challenger 850s, Global 5000s and Global Express XRSes. All are part of green cabin completion work that now makes up a major portion of Savannah Air’s work.
During the current economic climate, when many completion and refurbishment centers are struggling–some merely to survive–Savannah Air Center appears to be doing quite well. In fact, the Savannah, Ga. center is doing well enough to embark on construction of a new 12,500-sq-ft cabinetry shop and begin planning for an additional 70,000-sq-ft hangar.
Stephanie Snyder, vice president of marketing and communications at Gulfstream Aerospace, resigned unexpectedly last month. She had been with the Savannah, Ga. manufacturer for more than six years. Snyder also served as an executive assistant to former Gulfstream president Bill Boisture, who left the company abruptly in April, to be replaced by then vice chairman Bryan Moss (AIN, May, page 1).
Claiming “there is no merit to the lawsuit or to the allegations in it,” Savannah Air Center said it will defend itself against a $3.7 million claim brought in U.S. District Court by USA Interactive. In the suit, filed in May in U.S.
One of the primary roles of the newly formed National Air Transportation Association (NATA) Environmental Committee will be to “police” the growing number of carbon offset vendors and create a list of legitimate vendors for NATA members, according to association president James Coyne.
Gulfstream Aerospace broke ground on a new manufacturing site last month. The 306,000-sq-ft facility is the first since the company brought GII production to Savannah in 1967. The building is slated to be completed next April. Gulfstream also plans to use the existing service center for manufacturing after a new and larger service and support center is completed in late 2009.
