Bombardier Aerospace has embarked on an aircraft service program in which it will invest some $35 million over the next five years to structure a worldwide service and maintenance network centered on three major hubs. On Saturday, the Canadian airframer officially opened its new wholly owned service center at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, where some $8 million has already been invested.

Efforts to establish Lelystad Airport as the main business aviation gateway for the Netherlands have received a boost as a result of a recent Dutch government decision to allow the main runway to be extended to almost 6,900 feet.
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport will get a new business aviation terminal next year. The modestly sized 7,850-sq-ft building is to be constructed by the airport authority on the east side of the Dutch gateway, replacing the existing executive terminal. The facility could be open by the first quarter of next year.

Ordering and receiving Pratt & Whitney Canada parts in Europe, the Middle East and Africa should be quicker now that the engine manufacturer has opened a new parts distribution center (PDC) in Amsterdam. The new facility focuses on rapid parts deliveries to its engine customers in those areas.
