PPG Industries has added a new packaging unit to its coatings plant and aerospace application support center in Gonfreville, France. PPG is now able to offer customers in Southern Europe the benefits of proprietary Semco ready-to-use, disposable cartridges for storing, mixing and applying multiple-component adhesives, sealants, epoxies, polysulfides, polyurethanes and other materials that require mixing.
PPG Industries’ aerospace business will be sponsoring an event at the upcoming 2014 Aerospace Maintenance Competition in Las Vegas. The event, for which PPG will donate prizes, will include four transparencies and sealants maintenance skill tasks. The PPG Aerospace cockpit and wing sealant event will challenge teams in four maintenance skill tasks: cockpit window hump seal repair, surface seal hydrophobic coating application, wing section sealant application of PRC seal caps and fillet sealing in a wing fuel tank using Semco specialty-application nozzles.

PPG Aerospace (Booth No. 4053) Total Service Solutions Group has signed a multi-year contract with Savannah, Ga.-based Gulfstream to provide comprehensive chemical support for the airframer’s G450, G550 and G650 programs. The group provides customers with a modular approach for customized chemical management.
3M Aerospace has new aircraft cleaning and maintenance products at the convention (Booth No. 3635). The Scotch-Brite Aircraft Cleaning Pad is nonabrasive and comes in three sizes, designed to clean aircraft exteriors. The two aircraft sealant removal products are the SR Cutter and the SR Radial Bristle Disc.
Oxford Aviation of Oxford, Maine, introduced a three-in-one boot treatment called Tri-Guard. It is a silicone-free treatment that rejuvenates and conditions de-icing boots with a high gloss finish, offers protection from ozone degradation and UV rays, enhances the flexibility and durability of the boot and helps the actual ice-shedding process.
