AgustaWestland (Booth No. 6937) picked Heli-Expo 2014 as the place for signing an OEM agreement with Trakka (Booth No. 3528). The latter will supply AgustaWestland with its successful Trakkabeam A800 searchlight for factory installation as the primary searchlight available on all new AgustaWestland platforms (AW169, AW189) as well as on the company’s established helicopters.
Revue Thommen, based in Waldenburg, Switzerland, is demonstrating its new HSL-1600 helicopter searchlight here at Heli-Expo. First production deliveries are slated for the second quarter. Pricing information is available at the Revue Thommen booth (No. 4108).
Revue Thommen of Waldenburg, Switzerland, has signed a licensing agreement with Russian firm Transas for redesign and manufacture of the Transas helicopter searchlight system.
Revue Thommen, a Switzerland-based manufacturer of aircraft instruments, air-data systems and components, is at Booth No. 1434 with a redesign of a helicopter searchlight system made by Russia's Transas. The new searchlight fills “a niche where current product offerings fail to meet the needs of the market,” said Thommen’s Rudolf Iten. The redesigned Thommen TSL 1600 searchlight will be certified under EASA and FAA standards.
The slightly worn helicopter searchlight at the Vectorbeam Technologies booth (No. 4101) illustrates not wear and tear from normal operations but the punishment that the unit went through during RTCA DO-160E testing, including lightning tests.
Meeker Aviation, a manufacturer of FLIR camera and searchlight mounts, has unveiled at Heli-Expo its latest product, the multiple-payload cabin step for the Eurocopter EC 135 and EC 145. On display in Booth No. 4014, the step can carry various cameras to a maximum of 125 pounds, or a searchlight such as the SX-16/Nightsun II.
