Cessna’s recently certified Citation X+ set a number of recognized city-pair speed records as part of a two-day campaign, including a flight time of 4 hours 52 minutes from Seattle (Wash.) King County International Airport to Opa Locka (Fla.) Executive Airport near Miami. The Citation X+ departed Wichita Mid-Continent Airport for Seattle, before dashing the 2,364 nm to Miami, returning to Seattle and then back to Wichita. The westbound coast-to-coast flight took 5 hours 13 minutes and reached FL470.

The union representing Boeing machinists scheduled a November 13 vote on a new contract offer from the company that is described as critical to its decision to base work on the new 777X widebody in the Puget Sound region of Washington state. The basing decision also depends on the state legislature’s approving an incentives package, according to Gov. Jay Inslee.

The National EMS Pilots Association (Nemspa) is taking nominations for its 2012 pilot of the year. Nominations can be made at www.nemspa.org through September 1. The award will be presented at the Air Medical Transport Conference in Seattle this October.

Pilots who want an alternative source of electronic chart data for flying outside the U.S. can now buy ChartData from Seattle Avionics Software for European Union countries. The EU ChartData is available for hardware manufacturers that want to make the data available for their customers.
