A new air traffic control tower opened today at Singapore Seletar Airport as part of an ongoing vision to develop the airfield as a business aviation haven, as well as an aerospace park hub, in the region. The completion of the new control tower comes on the heels of a runway extension completed in September. At present, the airport allows only VFR operations, but the new control tower combined with an ILS that will be installed in 2014 will enable Seletar to handle all-weather flight operations.

Hawker Pacific announced it is developing an $11.6 million business aviation service center at Seletar Aerospace Park to replace its East Camp operation at Seletar Airport. The new 101,180-sq-ft facility will house the company’s regional headquarters in addition to a heavy-maintenance jet service center, spares distribution depot, and FBO with dedicated undercover jet parking.
Hawker Pacific will build an $11.6 million customer sales and service center at Seletar Aerospace Park, Singapore. The move confirms the expansion of its regional headquarters and relocation of its current Seletar operations at East Camp, Singapore.

Civil operations at Singapore Seletar Airport could be severely curtailed and business jet operations forced away altogether if several proposed initiatives are implemented by the local authorities. Most pressing is the imposition on the first of this month of Stage 3 noise restrictions, with no waivers for noncompliant aircraft, but other plans could limit operations even more.
In July ExecuJet Aviation will open a new base for its charter and management clients at London City Airport. It is also preparing to establish a new UK sales and operations subsidiary in the nearby Canary Wharf financial center under the leadership of the firm’s newly appointed executive director for group sales, Andrew Hoy, who was formerly with Bombardier’s Skyjet block charter program.
ExecuJet Aviation Group bought a 30,000-sq-ft hangar at Singapore’s Seletar Airport and is offering maintenance and hangar storage at the facility, its first business jet base in Asia. ExecuJet is managing or servicing five jets based at Seletar, two Gulfstream IVs and two GVs and a Bombardier Challenger 604.
At the Singapore Airshow today, new business jet operator BJets launched its block charter, fractional and aircraft management service with a massive $600 million order for 20 Cessna Citation CJ2+s and 20 Hawker 850XPs and 900XPs, to be delivered over the next five years. Another 10 Hawkers are on option. The value of the CJ2+ order is $150 million, while its firm order for 11 Hawker 900XPs and nine 850XPs is valued at $450 million.
