Transport Canada awarded type certification to Esterline CMC’s CMA-2700 enhanced vision system (EVS) sensor on November 18. The CMA-2700, part of CMC’s SureSight family, is paired with head-up guidance systems made by Rockwell Collins.

Crane Aerospace of Lynnwood, Wash., is developing an aircraft version of a handheld remote tire-pressure indicator that Goodyear developed for automobiles. SmartStem consists of a handheld digital readout device and a tiny, wireless pressure/temperature sensor embedded in the tire’s inflation valve or mounted on the wheels. The user aims the handheld unit at the sensor to obtain a readout of the air pressure, according to Crane.
Russian optical sensor specialist UOMZ has steadily increased market penetration with its range of sensor pods and is increasingly perceived to be price-competitive without compromising quality. The company’s strength lies particularly in the development of gyro-stabilized sensor systems.
