A private jet terminal at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is scheduled to open ahead of the World Expo in May. Construction is now well under way, with the terminal structure already completed but not yet outfitted inside. The executive terminal will have security inspections, quarantine and customs separate from the other terminals at Hongqiao Airport.
Shanghai Pudong International Airport
The first business jet hub in China is expected to open this year at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Hongqiao Airport Business Aviation Center, a joint venture between the Shanghai airport authority and Hawker Pacific of Australia, will be able to handle as many as 6,000 aircraft movements a year. Meanwhile, Chinese officials continue to work on opening up China’s airspace to allow more private aircraft flights in the country.
Air Routing International has teamed up with Arinc and Lufthansa Technik Ag in separate ventures, the company announced. Air Routing and Arinc are offering bizjet operators “a portfolio of more than 25 flight services for business aviation under the trade name Arinc Direct,” said the Annapolis, Md. company, a datalink provider.
SR Technics (Stand A726) is moving to establish a presence on the Chinese mainland. In recent months the company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Okay Airways to form a maintenance joint venture at Tianjin, concluded a joint venture agreement with the Shanghai Foreign Aviation Service Corp. (Shanghai FASCO) and established an Asia/Pacific advisory board (APAB).
The first Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE) will be staged in Shanghai, China, from August 9 to 11. As of late June, the event had attracted the support of 40 exhibitors, including all the leading business aircraft manufacturers.
Operators of foreign business aircraft need all the help they can get in China. Shanghai’s Foreign Aircraft Service (Fasco), operating since 1988 under the authority of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, can secure necessary government approvals in as timely a manner as possible. Fasco operates a dedicated business aircraft ramp at Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport.
Aerospace Products International, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Aviation Services, has opened its newest distribution and logistics center in Shanghai, China. Aerospace Products International (Shanghai) will enhance the product distribution services that API has provided in China since 2000 and allow API to serve as a major third-party logistics provider in the Asia-Pacific region.
