After an eventful 2011 that saw double-digit growth in passenger and aircraft numbers, Singapore is working to improve Changi Airport’s customer experience and global connections. “Despite continuing economic uncertainty and environmental factors, we continue to develop the hub,” according to Changi Airport Group (CAG) chief executive Lee Seow Hiang.
Cessna Aircraft said today at the Singapore Airshow that it expects “accelerating demand” for light and midsize business jets across the Asia-Pacific region in the next decade. Speaking at the show, vice president of sales for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia (EMAA) Trevor Esling said, “The Asia-Pacific region already accounts for 10 percent of Cessna’s business jet sales, and we anticipate demand increasing further in the medium to long term.
The Singapore Airshow will retain its world top-three ranking with a 2012 event that will be bigger than any of its predecessors, according to show organizers Experia Events. Covered exhibit space for this year’s show total 50,000 sq m–5 percent bigger than in 2010. Outdoor space spanning 100,000 sq m has been filled with more than 65 aircraft–up from around 50 two years ago.
