Dassault Falcon recently hosted its first Falcon E-Forum. Some 32 Falcon 7X customers from the U.S., France, Mexico, Brazil, Switzerland and the UK took part in the first Internet-based session. The seminar was developed by the manufacturer to provide an exchange of information and best practices with Falcon operators.

Duncan Aviation (Booth No. 5100) has developed a new addition to its Duncan Design Collection–a shell kit for the Falcon 50EX, the first of which is currently being installed. The shell kit provides for 1.25-inch seated headroom increase, new LED (light-emitting diode) lighting, an oxygen delivery system upgrade and improved signage. The 50EX shell follows the successful Falcon 50 kit, of which 17 have been installed to date.
Phoenix Rising Aviation, an 18-month-old maintenance firm at Drake Field in Fayetteville, Ark., expects this month to receive its first RVSM STC for a Falcon 20, with group approval planned by year-end. The RVSM program is being developed primarily for Falcon 20s equipped with the original Collins AP-105 or Sperry SPC-500 autopilots. Cost is “under $200,000,” including height-monitoring tests. Saab Systems (Stand W326) has developed a new software suite and integration platform that allows users to connect a wide variety of systems to a common network, without the need for expensive hard-coding and software integration. Known as WISE (widely integrated systems environment), the system has a number of applications but is particularly well-suited to military training involving differing platforms and services.
Thunder Avionics in St. Louis has teamed with Flight Test Associates to develop an RVSM package for Falcon 10s and 20s. For the Falcon 10, the original autopilot will be used in addition to IS&S replacement air-data controllers and altimeters. Estimated downtime for equipment installation and skin testing is eight to 10 weeks. Price will vary from $115,000 to $200,000.
Four separate reports of interference and consequent chafing of hydraulic lines in the No. 1 and No. 3 engine pylons of Falcon 50s have led to an AD requiring detailed inspections of the entire length of the lines to ensure proper clearance. AD 2003-10-04 is applicable to aircraft with S/N 2 two through 329. Inspections and corrective action are required by June 11.
Conklin & de Decker (Booth No. 1241) announced the release of its Life Cycle Cost Version 7.2 aircraft budget analysis software, including a new “maintenance cost matrix” that lets users view maintenance costs in five-year increments. The feature provides a better picture of predicted budget adjustments as an aircraft gets older, according to the company.
Duncan Aviation of Lincoln, Neb., is working on a redesign of its current offering of interior packages. The Duncan Design Collection, as it is known, will be officially launched this October at the NBAA Convention. The initial Falcon 50 interior from the collection is scheduled for completion this month.
