R.W. Martin announced here at the show that it has completed construction of a 20,000-sq-ft hangar at its aircraft modification facility at French Valley airport in Murrieta, Calif. The facility “greatly enhances our flight test capabilities and adds much-needed room for both our internal and customer projects,” said company president John Zublin.

The National Air Transportation Association welcomed an 18-month delay in the compliance date for revised STC procedures. The new procedures will effectively increase the cost of obtaining an STC by $5,000 to $15,000, estimated NATA when the revisions were adopted last year. Currently, STC projects are evaluated based on type certification standards that applied when the aircraft was designed.

Miami-based Quiet Technologies said the FAA now has all the test data, and the company expects to receive an STC for its Gulfstream II/III Stage 3 hush kit this month, about two months later than the previously revised date of the long-delayed program. The $1.5 million system (installed) does not reduce takeoff or climb performance or adversely affect range at typical cruise speeds, according to officials.

Cutter Aviation Phoenix has received an FAA STC approval for the installation of dual Rockwell Collins AHS-3000 attitude heading reference systems on the Beechjet 400A. The STC allows for simple replacement of the aging and soon-to-be-obsolete AHS-85E AHRS. All new Hawker Beechcraft 400XPs will soon be coming off the line with the AHS-3000 system installed.

Duncan Aviation was recently awarded an STC for the Innovative Solutions & Systems air-data computer in the Gulfstream II. The ADC is RVSM compliant and is a key component of the full RVSM certification package the Battle Creek, Mich. company is developing for the GII. No further details were available at press time.
