Sonny Perdue, keynote speaker at today’s opening general session, was recently recognized with NBAA’s 2010 American Spirit Award. “Governor Perdue has two great passions–aviation and the state of Georgia–and has spent many years tirelessly supporting and nurturing the development of both,” said NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen.

NBAA announced yesterday that Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue will be featured as a keynote speaker for the opening general session on October 19 at the NBAA Convention in Atlanta. Further, Perdue will be recognized with the association's 2010 American Spirit Award.

Transportation Secretary Mary Peters voiced disapproval of the recently passed House FAA Reauthorization Bill at the opening ceremonies of the 60th Annual NBAA Convention here yesterday. The House bill, approved on September 20, relies on fuel taxes rather than user fees to fund the FAA, and Secretary Peters said the Bush Administration was “concerned the bill doesn’t have a cost-based system to fund the FAA.”
