A Boeing 737-200 operated by Karachi-based Bhoja Air, a Pakistani domestic carrier, crashed today into a small village near Islamabad, with nine crew members and 118 passengers onboard.
India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has slapped a $3.3 million penalty and fine on New Delhi-based Bharat Hotels for not paying customs duty on the Embraer Legacy 600 it imported for charter services in 2009. Customs duty in India is 18 percent for private use of aircraft and 2.5 percent for charter operations.
Bird Air Services of India has signed an exclusive marketing agreement with Swiss company VistaJet Holding to market VistaJet in the Indian subcontinent (India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka). Bird Air Services is a subsidiary of Bird Group, a fast-growing Indian travel conglomerate.
With 75,000 dead confirmed so far, relief efforts following October’s earthquake in Pakistan are moving into a new and more hazardous phase. Thierry Lakahinsky of Belgium’s Skytech said that with winter setting in, the death toll will probably rise. “Everybody is anxious to see how the flying conditions will be affected by the incoming weather.”
