Avcon Industries has a source of financing available for its reduced vertical separation minimums (RVSM) solution for the Learjet 20 series as well as for other Avcon modifications. It is provided by Commercial Capital Co. for 24-, 36-, 48-, or 60-month terms. More than 80 airplanes have been upgraded using the Avcon STC RVSM Group Solution. Orders for upgrading another 40 airplanes are booked or pending.
The pilot flying a Cessna Caravan that crashed after takeoff on Oct. 6, 2005, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, violated operational requirements, according to the Canadian Transportation Safety Board’s final report. Among the violations were taking off at a weight greater than the legal maximum takeoff weight and exceeding the time allowed between wing contamination inspection and takeoff.
FB 320 Hansa, Chesterfield, Mo., Nov. 30, 2004–The NTSB labeled the maintenance facility’s failure to properly install and inspect the elevator trim system, resulting in a reversed elevator trim condition, and the pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from the terrain the probable cause of the Hansa jet accident. Contributing factors included the dark night and low ceiling.
