Stemme AG of Strausberg, Germany (Booth 117), is showcasing its S10VT high-performance motor glider this week at EAA AirVenture 2014 in Oshkosh, Wis., on the heels of forging a manufacturing and marketing agreement with light sport aircraft OEM Remos Aircraft of Pasewalk, Germany. The S10VT, powered by a 115-hp Rotax 914 F turbocharged engine, features a patented folding propeller that enables the engine to be deployed or stowed in a matter of seconds, without changing the aircraft’s aerodynamics or center of gravity.
The U.S. division of Strausberg, Germany-based glider manufacturer Stemme introduced its new president, Mark Stevenson, today at the Sun ’n’ Fun Fly-in in Lakeland, Fla. In his new role at Stemme USA (Static Display MD-12), Stevenson is responsible for the U.S., Canadian and Mexican markets for the Stemme Peak Performer S10 glider, which has a retractable propeller.
On static display at this week’s Paris Air Show was the Patroller, a new Male UAV that Safran subsidiary Sagem has developed from the German Stemme S15 motor-glider. Competing against the Thales Watchkeeper, Sagem will field the Patroller to meet a French Army requirement for 30 tactical UAVs. The Watchkeeper has generated more publicity, but Sagem is quietly suggesting that its long-winged contender is better.

The Stemme S10 motor glider in the Dubai 2005 static park was delivered to its owner in Saudi Arabia only recently but he readily agreed to bring it to the show to allow visitors to see an aircraft with a remarkable performance. Although powered by a single Rotax engine driving a retractable two-blade propeller, the S10 can climb to high altitudes and glide for long distances.
