After opening its newest FBO last July at Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, N.Y., Richmor Aviation is designing a new FBO terminal and the first phase of a planned three-phase hangar construction project. The Stewart FBO is the company’s fourth, joining facilities at New York’s Columbia County, Schenectady and Dutchess County airports and a standalone hangar at Waterbury-Oxford Airport in Connecticut.
Stewart International Airport (SWF) in Newburgh, N.Y., has appointed Clough Harbor Associates of Albany, N.Y., to lead the completion of the airport’s master plan update for future development. The airport is operated under a 99-year lease from the state of New York by National Express Corp. (NEC), the U.S. branch of the UK’s National Express Group, a $3.7 billion holding company.
Sleepy Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, N.Y., might get much busier after the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey purchases (for $78.5 million) the operating lease for the airport from National Express. The move is intended to relieve congestion at New York-area airports, which are also operated by the Port Authority, “and help us prepare for inevitable population and passenger growth,” said New York governor Eliot Spitzer.
