Stewart International Airport (SWF) in Newburgh, N.Y., is about to get its second FBO after several years of being served by one operation. CAS Handling of White Plains, N.Y., is scheduled to start pumping fuel and offering the typical business aircraft transient and tenant services in the fall, according to Stewart Airport operator National Express Corp.

Stewart International Airport (SWF) in Newburgh, N.Y., has appointed Clough Harbor Associates of Albany, N.Y., to lead the completion of the airport’s master plan update for future development. The airport is operated under a 99-year lease from the state of New York by National Express Corp. (NEC), the U.S. branch of the UK’s National Express Group, a $3.7 billion holding company.
General Electric’s flight department was expected to move this month into its new 100,000-sq-ft hangar/office complex on 12 acres at Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, N.Y., about 50 mi north of Manhattan.
Sleepy Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, N.Y., might get much busier after the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey purchases (for $78.5 million) the operating lease for the airport from National Express. The move is intended to relieve congestion at New York-area airports, which are also operated by the Port Authority, “and help us prepare for inevitable population and passenger growth,” said New York governor Eliot Spitzer.
