Cessna 208 Caravan, Columbus, Ohio, Dec. 5, 2007–The night cargo flight crashed on takeoff from Rickenbacker International Airport, one mile from the airport, killing the commercial pilot and passenger and destroying the Caravan. The airplane was de-iced before departure. Radar tracking showed that it climbed to about 1,100 feet msl and made a left turn with a groundspeed of about 109 knots before descending.

Antonov has removed the first An-148 fuselage from its assembly jig at the company’s experimental factory in Kiev after completing the project on schedule. Assembly started last October and proceeded without the delays typical of recent CIS aircraft projects. Antonov plans first flight by the end of this year and certification to Russia’s AP-25 airworthiness requirements–harmonized with FAR Part 25– next year.

CESSNA 208B, PARKS, ARIZ., NOV. 8, 2002–At approximately 10:20 a.m. Cessna N514DB, operated by Brown County Financial Services LLC of Snyder, Texas, was destroyed when it crashed following an uncontrolled descent near Parks. The instrument-rated commercial pilot and his three passengers were killed. The aircraft was operating IFR as a Part 91 flight in IMC from Las Vegas to Midland, Texas.

Cessna 208B Caravan, Culiacan, Mexico, Nov. 5, 2007–The Mexican-registered Aerocalafia air taxi Caravan lost power when climbing out near Culiacan. The commercial-rated pilot and two passengers were seriously injured and 12 other passengers suffered minor injuries in the ensuing forced landing. The airplane was destroyed. A flight plan was filed for Los Cabos, Mexico, and weather was VMC.
