Zurich-area airports are preparing to receive a vast influx of business jets bringing high-ranking executives, politicians and celebrities to the annual World Economic Forum, held in the exclusive Swiss city of Davos. Flight planners and FBOs are advising corporate and charter crews to make handling and parking arrangements early to avoid inconvenience.
Swissport Executive Aviation (SEA) was set to open a dedicated business aircraft handling operation at Zurich International Airport on January 1. This is the 57th facility in the company’s business aviation handling network.

accommodated in Zurich’s general aviation center or a VIP lounge in the main terminal. Current handlers at Zurich are Jet Aviation, which operates from the GA center, and ExecuJet Aviation, which occupies the former Signature Flight Support terminal.
Swissport Executive Aviation is scheduled to open new handling operations at Zurich Airport on January 1. The company has been active at the airport for some time but now has assured access to passenger facilities at the airport’s General Aviation Center (GAC). Corporate pilots can use Swissport’s center in the main terminal building, where their customers are also able to access Swissport Executive’s VIP lounge.
Swissport Executive Aviation is preparing for a start-up next month of business aircraft handling operations at Spain’s Malaga Airport from the general aviation terminal. It will compete with existing handling groups General Aviation Services, United Airport Services, Servisair, Sart and Iberia, although the last three companies focus largely on airline handling.
Swissport Executive Aviation (SEA) is opening a new FBO at Spain’s Malaga Airport this month. The move is the next step in the company’s ambitious plan to double its current number of European FBOs to 20 between now and the end of 2007.
Europe-headquartered handling group Swissport and maintenance provider Arabasco (Arab Airplane Services Co.) of Saudi Arabia have formed a new joint venture to establish FBOs at Jeddah and Riyadh. Handling operations for business aircraft could begin at both Saudi airports as soon as next month or November.
TAG Aviation Espana and Swissport Executive Aviation opened full-service FBOs in Spain last month. The new TAG Aviation facility is at Madrid’s Torrejon Airport. The new Swissport operation is at Malaga International Airport near the southern coast of Spain.
