GBAS remote satellite measurement unit

Sydney Airport has placed into operation a ground-based augmentation system (GBAS) supporting satellite-based precision approaches and landings. The airport is the first in Australia to offer a GBAS landing system, Airservices Australia said.

Qantas Airlines has received approval from the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to use the Honeywell SmartPath ground-based augmentation system (GBAS) at Sydney International Airport for satellite-based landings with its Airbus A380s. The SmartPath GBAS supports precision approach and landings using GPS satellite data and transmits digital guidance signals to aircraft systems.

Universal Weather & Aviation opened a business aircraft handling operation at Sydney (Australia) Kingsford Smith International Airport on November 11. The facility is located in the offices of executive charter and aircraft management group ExecuJet Australia. Meanwhile, Sydney’s only other FBO, Qantas Executive, will close on December 31.

Universal Weather & Aviation has opened an executive aircraft handling operation at Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport. It represents the company’s first permanent presence in Australia and will supplement more than a dozen UVglobal Network handling operations around the Pacific Rim.
