TAG Aviation has applied to raise the annual limit on aircraft movements at London-area Farnborough Airport from 28,000 to 50,000. The company, which operates the UK airport under a 99-year lease, is also requesting an increase in the limit on movements on weekends and public holidays from 5,000 to 8,900. Last year, TAG won approval to increase weekend movements from 2,500 to 5,000.

Now that JetDirect Aviation has closed and gone bankrupt and Wayfarer Aviation has arisen from the JetDirect assets, former employees of the once high-flying company have branched off in new directions. Wayfarer Aviation is the new charter/management firm owned by Brantley Partners, which purchased assets of JetDirect Aviation after that firm’s shutdown.

The TAG TransPolar08 team and friends celebrated the official approval of the crew’s record-breaking flight around the world last year at a pre-EBACE event here at Geneva International Airport on Sunday. Marcel Meyer, Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) executive officer of records, presented diplomas designating the record to the five pilots who participated on the more than 52-hour journey.

On Friday, a Massachusetts judge dismissed legal efforts to stop JetDirect Aviation Acquisition Company (JDAAC) from acquiring assets of JetDirect Aviation. According to legal filings by JDAAC, the sale is now expected to occur this week.

Just when you think the corporate aviation bashing has died down, yet another media report denounces an executive’s use of a private jet or airs a politician’s demands that companies rescind orders for corporate aircraft. Seems that corporate aviation is taking the brunt of a lot of pent-up taxpayer anger at the bailouts of industries not even remotely tied to aviation.

TAG Group vice president Aziz Ojjeh and a team of four other pilots broke a
31-year-old speed record for a pole-to-pole circumnavigation of the globe in late November. The TransPolar08 crew circled the globe over the North and South Poles in a Bombardier Global Express, chopping 95 minutes off the record previously held by a Pan Am Boeing 747SP that made the trip in October 1977.

TAG Aviation Holding has launched a new completions management consulting and aircraft acquisition and brokerage service at the former San Francisco headquarters of TAG Aviation USA. The new company, TAG Aviation Services, is headed by president Jeffrey Weber, who worked for TAG Aviation USA until most of its assets were sold to Sentient Jet (now JetDirect Aviation) in January.

TAG Aviation (Stand No. 452) has announced the opening of a Dubai office, allowing it to offer the group’s aircraft management and charter services direct to Middle East customers. The new operation will also promote TAG’s U.S. aircraft completions operation.

British business aviation companies have joined forces to help 16 seriously ill or disabled children and their families. Freestream Aircraft, Gama Aviation, TAG Aviation and TAG Farnborough Airport supported a special day held by the Fly2Help and Dreamflight charities at BAE Systems’ Filton Airport in Bristol on September 7.

The FAA Eastern Region counsel’s office is trying to find out if employees of the former Sentient Jet Holdings were connected via payroll and other systems with TAG Holding, according to information obtained by AIN.
