The FAA, along with Dallas-area airports and FBOs, have also invested countless hours and millions of dollars getting runways and facilities ready for the more than 4,000 fans expected to arrive by private aircraft.

MRO operator West Star Aviation has added a mobile support team (MST) at its facility on Dallas Love Field. Million Air Dallas held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 25 for an expansion of its Addison Airport FBO complex. Plans call for a new ­hangar, FBO terminal and ramp to open in next year’s second quarter. The new 40,000-sq-ft hangar will accommodate Gulfstream’s new G650. The $4 ­million addition was necessary because Million Air Dallas’s ­charter fleet, which now numbers 20 aircraft, is growing.

Dallas/Fort Worth-based Cutter Aviation will consolidate all of its metro-area operations at its North Dallas location in McKinney, Texas, at Collin County Regional Airport. The consolidation will move all aircraft maintenance and technical services operations from their current location at Dallas Executive Airport to the new facility in McKinney later this summer.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex has been host to an expanding Cutter Aviation since 2002. As a result, the company has finalized plans to consolidate all of its metro-area operations at Cutter Aviation’s North Dallas location in McKinney, Texas on Collin County Regional Airport.

The NTSB is investigating the April 28 incident at Houston Hobby in which a Bell 407 operated by Helicopters, Inc. and a Southwest Airlines 737 nearly collided. Both aircraft were departing in day VFR.

M.C. Schefft, flight dispatcher and travel coordinator for Peabody Energy of St. Louis, won a two-day trip for two to the Tanglewood Resort at Lake Texoma, Texas, at the S&D conference. The prize includes two nights at the resort and breakfast for two people, a one-day golf pass and a one-day charter fishing trip. Texoma Jet, an FBO and aircraft maintenance facility in Denison, Texas, awarded the prize.

BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) is transforming its Lafayette, La. component repair operation into a support and logistics center.
