The China Helicopter Exposition is gaining momentum for its inaugural event, September 15 to 18 this year in the coastal city of Tianjin.

Event organizer BCI Aerospace (Booth No. 503) of France is the lead in putting the event together, along with partners China Aviation Industry Corp. (AVIC), AVIC subsidiary Avicopter, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the Tianjin government.

China is launching its own helicopter show. The China Helicopter Exposition 2011 (Booth No. 503) will be held September 15 to 18 in Tianjin and is sponsored by the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and its Avicopter division. Currently China has a population of 1.4 billion but has only 200 civil helicopters.

ExecuJet Aviation is expanding its footprint in the Asian business aviation services market with a new joint venture with China’s Tianjin Haite Aircraft Engineering. The partners are to establish an aircraft maintenance and management operation at Tianjin Binhai Airport, about 75 miles from the center of Beijing, and the new facility is slated to open by August.

The helicopter, the design of which has likely inherited some lines from the light Eurocopter models that parent company Avic has long produced, has an mtow of 4,850 pounds and can carry six people.

Airbus today delivered the first A320 aircraft assembled at its Final Assembly Line China (FALC) in Tianjin. Airbus president and CEO Tom Enders handed over the airplane to Dragon Aviation Leasing chairman Li Hai during a ceremony in Tianjin to mark the event. Dragon has signed a contract to lease the aircraft to Chengdu-based Sichuan Airlines.

The first A320 aircraft assembled outside Europe at the Airbus Final Assembly Line China (FALC) in Tianjin, China, completed its first flight on May 18, a little more than a month before scheduled first delivery to Dragon Aviation Leasing customer Sichuan Airlines. The milestone flight came amid aggressive moves to spark a recovery of China’s airline industry with direct government funding and loans.

China Aviation Industry Corp (AVIC) will build a $1.2 billion commercial helicopter plant in the northern port city of Tianjin with the local government to consolidate its diverse businesses. The move will allow the company to make full use of the geographical advantage of Tianjin as a port city, said a spokesman.

Airbus officially opened its first final assembly line outside Europe today in front of official dignitaries and 600 guests gathered for the inauguration of the new A320 facility in Tianjin, China.

Airbus has started sending the first aircraft sections to the new A320 assembly line in Tianjin, China, the company announced today. Plans call for assembly of the first aircraft to start in August. Airbus expects launch customer Sichuan Airlines to take delivery of the first airplane by the end of June next year.
