Airbus A350-900 flight test aircraft MSN3 has completed hot weather testing in Al Ain, in the United Arab Emirates, Airbus announced Wednesday.

German air navigation service provider (ANSP) Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) said that its plan to significantly raise the user fees it charges airlines resulted from less-than-forecast air traffic. The Association of European Airlines (AEA) has denounced the plan and warned that Germany’s airspace will become the most expensive in Europe.

Gulfstream Aerospace donated a G100 and other aircraft components to Savannah Technical College last week. The aircraft is a former Gulfstream Field and Airborne Support Teams (Fast) aircraft that flew technicians and parts to AOG customers. Gulfstream also donated fly-by-wire components, including manifolds and actuators, from a G650, as well as a flap assembly and fuselage panel assembly from a G450. The aircraft and components will be used as training tools in the college’s aviation programs.

Online private jet charter portal Victor appointed Dan Northover as chief marketing officer. The company, which launched in 2011 and experienced “huge growth” this year, said the appointment represents a “significant step forward” as it prepares to launch its new business-to-client app and enter the U.S. market later this year. Most recently, Northover was digital design director and board member of Partners Andrews Aldridge, part of the Engine Group, and partner at the Engine Group, the UK’s largest privately owned communications group.

The NTSB’s preliminary report into the crash of a Gulfstream IV during takeoff roll at Bedford Hanscom Field near Boston on May 31 revealed a number of inconsistencies. On June 13, investigators reported that while the flap handle on the jet was set to the “flaps 10” position, the flight data recorder indicated the flaps were set to the “flaps 20” position.

Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) last week announced a set of regulatory reforms intended to streamline governing aviation through improved continuity in the areas of engineering, pilot licensing, flight training and operations, maintenance and fatigue risk management, as well as improving standards for navigation, sport aviation and aerial work.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) each granted the Boeing 787-9 an amended type certificate, paving the way for Air New Zealand to take delivery of the first production example early this summer, Boeing announced on Monday morning. The FAA also has granted Boeing an amended production certificate, validating that the Boeing production system can produce 787-9s that conform to the design. EASA accepts FAA oversight of Boeing production certificates, just as the FAA accepts EASA oversight of European manufacturers’ production certificates.

India has completed its ground network for automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) tracking of aircraft, according to supplier Comsoft. The German company announced on June 12 that it has finished installing seven new ADS-B ground stations under a second phase of the deployment, which India has integrated into its ATC system.

MiG-21

Bacau, Romania-based Aerostar is nearing the end of a program to bring eight Mozambique Air Force MiG-21 fighters back to life after some 20 years in storage. The company is best known today for its commercial MRO and aerostructures business. But the latest MiG work follows Aerostar’s previous contract to upgrade 110 Romanian air force MiG-21s to the Lancer standard, with new avionics designed by Elbit Systems.
