Pats Aircraft Systems recently delivered a BBJ3, marking the 14th such turnkey interior completion performed by the Georgetown, Del.-based center. The aircraft was turned over to a Middle East customer who described the interior as “quite elegant and…a dynamic space in which to relax or work.” Cabin amenities include a customized in-flight entertainment system with simultaneous audio-visual on-demand (AVoD) available at 70 locations in the aircraft, and a system that allows inflight use of mobile phones.
Aspen Avionics co-founder Peter Lyons has moved to a new job as president of Avionyx, an engineering services provider headquartered in Costa Rica. Avionyx specializes in helping aerospace manufacturers with development of DO178- and DO254-compliant software and electronic hardware. Work that Avionyx engineers accomplish includes safety-critical software development, verification services and turnkey design. Lyons is responsible for company operations and will focus on new business development from his office in Albuquerque, N.M.
TAG Aviation is tapping its own experience of having to comply with the European Union’s emissions trading scheme (ETS) to provide support to other business aircraft operators in dealing with what remains a burdensome process. Through the new TAG ETS Solutions service, the Switzerland-based business aviation services group can provide a full turnkey package covering all requirements for monitoring, reporting and verifying carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, as well as actually purchasing carbon credits, which operators will have to do from April 2013.
Maximum Manuals developed a turnkey process for charter operators to apply for approval and implement use of the Apple iPad as an electronic flight bag (EFB). The company’s iPad EFB program includes an application package for submission to the FAA, training program for flight crews, supplemental language for company documents and customer support throughout the approval process to obtain A061 Ops Specs.
