Aerospace insurance provider Global Aerospace has been selected as the aviation insurance claims manager and advisor for the FAA. Under the agreement, Global Aerospace will provide insurance expertise, assist in claims settlements and advise the FAA on commercial aviation insurance matters with respect to war-risk coverage provided by the agency under authorization from Congress.

Aviation insurer Starr Aviation now has an iPhone app that provides easily accessible information to aviation insurance brokers, Starr policyholders and potential policyholders. Functions include locating and contacting the various Starr offices, finding a local aviation insurance agent and consulting an accident checklist. Additionally, Starr Aviation allows both policyholders and their broker to access their aviation policies directly from mobile devices. Policyholders can also report an accident and file a claim within the application.

Berkley Accident and Health has set up Encap Business Aviation Captive to create “an insurance brokerage program specifically for business aviation employers that employ between ten and 1,000 employees,” Joe Clifton, director of JP Benefits Connection, told AIN. The program offers medical and prescription coverage.
