On January 12, the new Million Air Tucson FBO held its grand opening, marking the FBO franchise’s first presence in Arizona. The new facility, designed by Seaver Franks Architects, was finished in January and features more than 54,000 sq ft of office and hangar space, a two-story FBO terminal, security system with electronic access, theater room, covered parking and spacious conference and break rooms.

Tucson has a strong aviation tradition. It built the nation’s first municipal airport in 1919. During World War II the 16,000-acre, then-municipal airport became Davis-Monthan AFB. After the war, a new civilian airport was established south of the city, the current site of Tucson International Airport.
According to its founder, start-up completion and refurbishment center DunnAir Business Jet Completion Center will open its doors in February. Dale Dunn said the company had reached an agreement with both Bombardier and the Tucson Airport Authority for sublease of the facilities at Tucson International Airport.

In a city that already had two interior completion and refurbishment centers, one more might have been one too many. But rather than fight for every job, the three facilities at Tucson International Airport– DunnAir Business Jet Completion, Evergreen Air Center and Hamilton Aerospace Technologies–have decided that a cooperative agreement would benefit all.
Premier Air president Ash Vij and vice president Rita Vij are building a new Million Air FBO franchise at Tucson International Airport. The FBO will be the first Million Air facility in Arizona. Million Air Tucson will cost about $5 million to build and will include a two-story 20,000-sq-ft terminal and 20,000-sq-ft hangar, as well as a theater room and the traditional Million Air refreshment bar.
Hamilton Aerospace Technology, a maintenance, engineering and modification firm that started 57 years ago as Hamilton Aviation, is expanding its narrowbody airliner services to include regional jets. To that end, the company recently refurbished a 120-by 250-foot hangar at Tucson International Airport dedicated to core maintenance and overhaul of regional jets.
Bombardier has reached an agreement with the Tucson Airport Authority that will allow start-up interiors shop DunnAir Business Jet Completion Center to sublease its old completion center at Tucson International Airport. The facilities will total about 32 acres and include a 235,000-sq-ft hangar.
Bombardier marked three decades of service and maintenance support in Tucson by signing a 22-year lease agreement with the Tucson Airport Authority, ensuring continued service at its Tucson Service Center until 2028.
