Van Nuys Airport last month introduced a draft environmental impact report for the proposed Noisier Aircraft Phaseout Project. The preliminary plan calls for establishing a maximum noise level for arriving and departing aircraft at Van Nuys, beginning with a phase-out of aircraft generating noise levels of 77 dBA or more on departure.

A U.S. District judge has ruled in favor of a Los Angeles city ordinance restricting access by Stage 2 jets to Van Nuys (Calif.) Airport (VNY).
