Tomorrow night the Montrose County (Colo.) Commission will consider a revised incentive package aimed at luring Extra Aircraft to build an assembly plant there for its all-composite EA-500 turboprop single. The original deal involved a land transfer that required the county to pay Extra $2.2 million for donated land and provide other incentives, essentially capitalizing a large share of the company’s site start-up costs.

Piaggio Avanti fractional provider Avantair’s revenue increased 4 percent, to $36 million, in its fiscal third quarter (which ended March 31) compared with the year-ago period. Its earnings before interest, income taxes, depreciation and amortization also rose to $1.8 million, up from the $1.5 million reported in the same period last year.
Extra Flugzeugbau of Hunxe, Germany, has operated under insolvency (similar to Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S.) since January and has reportedly been in negotiations with a U.S. investor group for the past several months.
NBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) have denounced a report on private jet travel and the general aviation industry issued by the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) and Essential Action (EA), two left-leaning Washington think tanks. In short, the report echoes the airline industry’s claim that GA does not pay its fair share of ATC costs and is the cause of airport congestion.

Innotech-Execaire has selected On-Board Data Systems (OBDS) as its partner for software and services in support of a fleet-wide electronic flight bag (EFB) upgrade the Montreal-based companies announced last month. As part of the agreement OBDS will design software allowing online delivery of electronic chart updates directly to the EFB units in the cockpit.
