Last week’s NBAA Flight Plan podcast offered aircraft operators headed for the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia a number of safety tips made even more important now that numerous security threats have surfaced. Some of the most valuable tips include what some might see as obvious reminders, such as having the right visa upon arrival. NBAA is also warning visitors to carry proper identification at all times, to keep a low profile while within the country and to tanker fuel when possible.
Air BP has launched the first direct cash-back reward card for the general aviation market. The Sterling Reward Prepaid Visa card will enable the fuel provider’s Sterling Card holders to earn money back on fuel purchases. The company is rolling out the program first for U.S. customers who can apply online. Customers who receive the card will receive one U.S. cent deposited back into the card for each gallon of fuel purchased from nearly any location that accepts the Sterling card worldwide.
Galaxy Aviation is offering Visa gift cards to pilots who visit the company’s new FBO terminal and hangar facility during this year’s NBAA Convention (October 6 to 8) in Orlando, Fla. From October 5 to 9, Galaxy will give pilots a gift card in the amount of 10 cents per gallon for every gallon over 250 purchased at Galaxy Orlando.
Barcelona, Spain-based charter operator Executive Airlines is offering new services such as third-party handling, U.S. visa waiver processing and operations to and from London City Airport.
The firm is now offering handling services for third-party operators at Barcelona and Madrid airports. These services will be expanded by the recent purchase of Aeroplanning, a Madrid-based corporate flight planning specialist.
U.S. Bank Multi Service Aviation has created a co-branded affinity card for Van Nuys, Calif.-based The Air Group, designed to strengthen the charter operator’s brand identity and help identify its customers as members of its fuel program. Under the partnership, the Air Group can use Multi Service Aviation’s closed network of more than 7,000 merchants in 190 countries.
Aircraft management firm The Air Group launched a discount fuel program and a co-branded Visa card available free to its management clients and for a fee to corporate aircraft operators. The Air Group purchases bulk fuel and passes on savings in its new SmartFuel Program. For handling and ramp fees, The Air Group passes on costs without markups.
