VistaJet is expanding its 35-airplane fleet of Bombardier Global and Challenger jets with an order for 20 super-midsize Challenger 350s plus 20 options. The large order lead Steve Ridolfi, president of Bombardier Business Aircraft, to remark, “Sometimes we are in awe of what VistaJet has accomplished. We couldn’t be more proud.”

VistaJet is expanding its 35-airplane fleet of Bombardier Globals and Challengers, having placed an order today at the Paris Air Show for 20 super-midsize Challenger 350s and options for 20 more. At list price, the order is worth some $1.035 billion if all options are exercised. Deliveries to VistaJet will begin in about 12 months.

VistaJet announced yesterday that it is enrolling 50 Bombardier Global 5000s and 6000s with the Platinum engine and APU hourly-cost maintenance program operated by Jet Support Services Inc. (JSSI). Valued at more than $205 million at 2013 list prices, the deal is possibly the largest ever concluded for any hourly-cost maintenance program.

VistaJet is working hard to get its new Chinese joint venture up and running by the end of 2013. In January, the operator established an office in Hong Kong and it has now staffed this with a sales team. The next step will be to establish a representative office in Beijing with its joint venture partner and it has begun the licensing process to establish a Chinese air operators’ certificate (AOC) and register some of its aircraft in the country.

VistaJet is set to embark on a 17-city tour of Africa this month as part of the operator’s “Think Global” sales campaign to expand its block charter offerings to emerging markets. Last month, the Switzerland-based company took one of its Bombardier Global 6000s on a 12-city tour of Asia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Middle East, just days after announcing a contract with the Canadian airframer for 56 new Globals and options on 86 more.

VistaJet announced a deal today worth up to $7.8 billion for 56 Bombardier Globals, with options for up to another 86. Deliveries of this latest batch of Bombardier jets under firm order are due to begin in January 2014 and run through the end of 2017.

Bombardier announced on Friday afternoon that it logged orders for a mix of 13 Global 6000s and 8000s worth some $800 million from two undisclosed customers. The first firm order was for four Global 6000s and four Global 8000s worth $500 million at list prices. The second firm order, announced less than 30 minutes after the first, included four Global 6000s and a single Global 8000 worth a combined $300 million. A VistaJet spokesperson denied speculation that it is one of the undisclosed buyers.

Switzerland-based VistaJet named Dexter Aviation, a Moscow-based Pilatus PC-12 charter operator, as its Russian partner. Under the arrangement, announced last week, VistaJet will lease two of its yet-to-be-delivered Challenger 605s to Dexter, which will base the large-cabin jets at one of Moscow’s airports when they arrive in the third or fourth quarter.

Four companies received the Safety of Flight Award at EBACE 2012 in Geneva, earlier this month.

DC Aviation, TAG Aviation and PrivatAir won the platinum award for achieving at least 50 years, or 100,000 hours of safe flying. VistaJet received the silver award for 30 years, or 60,000 hours, of accident-free flying.
