Edelman Leather has launched a new line that it expects will take a “bite” out
of the market. The New Milford, Conn.-based purveyor’s “Croco Loco” line has
that crocodile skin appearance in white, gold and blue-and-green.
The brand logo is from a drawing by artist Andy Warhol.

Duncan Aviation of Lincoln, Neb., has released a white paper addressing common misperceptions and pitfalls inherent in preparing for an aircraft exterior paint refurbishment.

Titled “Paint, Maintenance & Aircraft Value,” the paper shares the knowledge of aircraft completion representations from Duncan’s Lincoln and Battle Creek, Mich. facilities.

Edelman Leather is introducing an addition to its line of fine leathers for aircraft interiors– one with a little more hair than usual. The New Milford, Conn.-based company is calling it the “leather fur rugs” line. The particular breed of cow from which the hides are taken is without the distinctive markings typical of some breeds and is an overall beige, gray, brown or black of varying shades.

Flightline First opened a new FBO facility at Lakefront Airport in New Orleans late last month. The FBO is located in a classic building dating from the 1920s next to the airport’s famous art deco terminal building, which is undergoing restoration to its former glory. Both the terminal and Fliteline’s 20,000-sq-ft hangar were heavily damaged during Hurricane Katrina.

Aircraft fractional shares operator NetJets Europe has recruited Foster+Partners, the firm of Pulitzer prize-winning architect Lord Norman Foster, to design the interior for 33 Falcon 7Xs to be delivered to NetJets over the next eight years. The interior is created from a “holistic perspective” and zoned into distinctive passenger space and a crew work area.

Sabreliner’s “tactical VIP kits” are becoming a popular upgrade for the UH-60 Black Hawk. Since receiving a blanket airworthiness approval to manufacture and install the VIP kit a year ago, the St. Louis, Mo.-based company has installed more than 200 of the customized seat cushions in Black Hawks. The kit includes memory foam cushions and skirts, floor covering and stainless steel thresholds.

AIC, the Aircraft Institute for Craftsmen, is scheduled to open its doors next spring to train executive interiors specialists. According to founder Pierre Moroni, president of Syncro Aircraft Interiors at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, the motivation for launching the school is the persistent, industry-wide problem of finding skilled interiors technicians.
